Girardinus metallicus

This little livebearer is native to streams, puddles and ditches in Cuba and Costa Rica, and is noted for the black stripe that runs from the mouth along the underside and along the length of the gonopodium in the males. Females are less than 3″ and males less than 2″. Undemanding as far as water conditions go but breed best in alkaline or brackish conditions. Ours are kept in a planted 20 long with several Corydoras catfish, and we feed powdered flake and baby brine shirmp.
